At the Start - the Little Creek Casino in Shelton, WA

Jim wishes Open Class champion Paul Choinere good luck at the start of the rally. Paul is campaigning his brand new Hyundai Tiburon this year.

Henry Joy's Open class Mitsubishi Lancer. (Yes, that's snow in the background!)

Ralph Kosmides' Toyota Supra in Group 5 looks fast!

Sam Bryan and Rob Walden's Saab 900 was entered in Group 5. The day before the rally, Jim and I visited Rob's shop in Seattle and saw the last minute preparations being made to the car. Go Rob!

During Stage 1 - Some-Rainy-Forest-Road-on-the-Olympic-Peninsula, WA

There was a mix-up about the spectator area for the early stages, so a group of us hiked about 1/4 mile up the first stage and ducked into the woods. We came back with several vicious slug bites, yet another Bigfoot sighting, and most importantly - these pictures!

The Hyundai Tiburon zooms by. Paul would go on to drive a flawless rally (as usual) and win by over 3 minutes!

Here comes Ralph's Supra...

and there he goes! On his way to victory in Group 5.

While things look promising as they flash by, Sam and Rob weren't so lucky later. They DNF'd when the Saab's gearbox gave way on Stage 4. Get 'em next time guys!

Rui Brasil is piloting this open-class Quattro. He will finish 3rd in class and 5th overall.
